The Developer Workstation Setup

Spec'd remote Linux development workstations for engineering teams — full toolchains, containers and IDE access, hosted so code never has to leave your environment.

We provision remote Linux development workstations to spec for engineering teams: Docker and standard language toolchains installed, VS Code or JetBrains IDE access configured, GPU passthrough where builds or ML workloads need it, and Git access with secrets-manager integration wired in. Staff with 10+ years average experience build the base image and lock it down to your requirements rather than handing over a generic desktop. This is aimed squarely at companies working with contractors, offshore developers, or BYOD policies, where the appeal is that code and credentials stay inside a controlled environment instead of sitting on a personal laptop. We can restrict local file-transfer tools (scp, rsync, removable media) if keeping code off individual machines is the actual point of the exercise — that has to be specified up front, since it changes the base configuration rather than being a setting we flip afterward.

What's included

  • Docker and standard language toolchains installed and configured
  • VS Code or JetBrains IDE access configured to your stack
  • GPU passthrough configured where builds or ML workloads require it
  • Git access and secrets-manager integration wired in
  • Optional lockdown of local file transfer (scp, rsync, USB) to keep code inside the environment

How it works

  1. 1

Book it — pay the fixed price, tell us your target environment

  2. 2

We deliver — an experienced specialist runs our standard workflow for this exact task; you can watch progress and ask questions

  3. 3

Hand-off — you get the deliverables, documentation, and a walkthrough if you want one

FAQ

How fast is delivery?
Standard delivery is within 500 weekday hours (≈ 32 working days). Express delivery — within 300 weekday hours (≈ 19 working days) — costs 25% more.
What if my team uses a specific IDE or toolchain not in your standard build?
The base build covers Docker, common language toolchains, VS Code/JetBrains, Git and secrets-manager integration. Non-standard tooling, unusual GPU configurations, and per-developer customization beyond that base are scoped and quoted once we have the list.
Can developers copy code off the workstation?
Only if you leave the transfer tools enabled. If "code never leaves the environment" is the goal, flag it during scoping and we build the restriction into the base image rather than bolting it on afterward.
Is hosting included in this price?
This price covers the build and configuration. Ongoing hosting is a separate, recurring cost sized to your infrastructure and user count.
