The Proxmox-to-Proxmox Migration

Move an existing Proxmox environment to new nodes — new hardware, a risky-in-place version upgrade, a datacenter move, or consolidating older hosts — with the old node left untouched until cutover is verified.

This builds a new Proxmox environment — new node or nodes, with network and storage configured — and migrates your existing VMs and LXC containers onto it, then decommissions the old node once cutover is confirmed. Common reasons to run this rather than upgrade in place: a hardware refresh onto new boxes, a production version upgrade where an in-place jump carries more risk than you want to accept (for example PVE 7 to 8 on a system that can't tolerate downtime from a failed upgrade), a skip-version upgrade such as PVE 6 to 8 where the official path requires passing through 7 and a fresh 8 build is the cleaner route, a datacenter move, or consolidating several older hosts onto fewer, newer ones. The old node stays fully intact and running until migration is validated on the new environment, which is why this carries meaningfully lower damage risk than modifying a live node in place. The quoted engagement covers the base build — new node, networking, storage, migration planning, and decommission of the old node; actual per-VM or per-LXC migration work is scoped alongside it and scales with how many workloads you're moving. New hardware itself is bought and owned by you — we can recommend specs but don't broker the purchase.

How fast is delivery?
Standard delivery is within 110 weekday hours (≈ 7 working days). Express delivery — within 66 weekday hours (≈ 5 working days) — costs 25% more.
Does the quoted price include migrating every VM and container?
The base price covers the new environment build, migration planning, and decommission. Actual VM/LXC migration work scales with how many workloads you're moving and the method used — live migration typically runs 15–30 minutes per VM, backup-restore 30 minutes to 2 hours — and is scoped alongside the base engagement once your inventory is known.
Do you supply the new hardware?
No — you purchase and own the new hardware. We can recommend specifications based on your workload, but we don't broker the purchase.
Is this safer than upgrading Proxmox in place?
Generally yes for production systems — the old node keeps running untouched until the new environment is validated, so there's a fallback the whole way through. An in-place upgrade doesn't carry that same safety net if something goes wrong mid-upgrade.
What if we are consolidating multiple older hosts?
The base build scales roughly linearly with the number of source nodes being consolidated — mention your current host count when scoping.
